Trump back in the White House? What it could mean for the US-UK special nuclear relationship
As the race for the US Presidency heats up, many are asking what the possible return of Donald Trump to the White House would mean for nuclear tensions in 2024 - higher now than they were when he left office four years ago.
For Britain, this year will not only see a general election, but also the renewal of the secretive Mutual Defence Agreement: the treaty that has underpinned the US/UK special 'nuclear' relationship since 1958.
This Thursday, CND and Declassified UK are hosting an online discussion about the MDA and why it's shrouded in secrecy, with zero transparency; we'll ask what nuclear dangers lay ahead - whoever is elected to the White House this November.

Gaza global day of action: assembly point and time announced On Monday, thousands of people turned up outside Downing Street at just a few hours' notice to oppose Israel's latest bombardment of Rafah. The Gaza Strip's southernmost city, Rafah is host to over 1 million refugees who have fled other parts of the territory in search of safety. Now, Israel is preparing plans for a ground assault on Rafah. With nowhere else to go, civilian casualties are going to be enormous. As western governments continue to refuse to take action, pressure is growing. A Dutch court recently ordered that the export of F-35 parts destined for Israel be blocked - and gave the government one week to comply with the order. Meanwhile, the EU's foreign policy chief has suggested that Israel's allies stop sending arms if they are concerned about civilian casualties.

Lakenheath: its role in the US war machine - CND webinar
A reminder that our webinar on the role of RAF Lakenheath in the US war machine takes place in a little under two weeks! The Suffolk airbase was back in the news last month amid more evidence that the base is being prepared for the siting of US nuclear weapons.
This webinar will hear from Hans Kristensen, the researcher who first discovered evidence that US nukes are returning to Britain. There will also be updates from CND about our No US Nukes campaign, how Lakenheath fits into NATO's nuclear infrastructure, and upcoming plans to protest in 2024.
