Dear John

Five months on from the Conservative Party’s weakening of vital green policies, Labour has followed suit – backtracking on its £28 billion green investment pledge.

This trend of terrible decisions comes at a time when our leaders need to take the climate crisis seriously.

Next week we’re taking the current UK government to court over its inadequate plans to deal with the crisis [1].

To mark this moment, we’re going to hand in our petition demanding a better climate plan from politicians. Do you have a minute to make sure your name is on the petition?

I'LL ADD MY NAME ( [link removed] )

The planet just breached the 1.5 degree heating threshold for 12 months straight for the first time ever. As a result we've seen extreme floods, heatwaves, wildfires and sea level rises the world over.

But rather than strengthen climate plans, the government recently granted 24 new oil and gas licenses in the North Sea. And now Labour’s Sir Keir Starmer is winding back his party's climate commitments.

Next week’s court case could help turn things around. And force the government to come up with a better climate plan.

You can help us put pressure on politicians too. Tens of thousands of you have already spoken up. But if you haven't yet, please sign our petition today. And urgently demand a better plan for climate action.

Every single signature will help strengthen our campaign for stronger climate leadership.

When we’re in court next week, your support really will spur us on.

I’ll be back in touch to update you on this case soon.

Thank you,
