There's lots of folks to meet and history to learn this month, and I'm excited to tell you about it! Our For the Love of Democracy Happy Hour is this Thursday, February 15th at Spider Kelly's! These events are a great way to meet local YD's, and I hope to see you there! The Arlington Dems Black Caucus is hosting a Manumission Tour on Saturday, February 17th, highlighting the history of Arlingtonians who were manumitted during the Antebellum period. The tour is hosted by John Chapman, and you're sure to learn something new about Black History in the Arlington and Alexandria area - check the link for more info. Our general body meeting will be February 27th at the Shirlington Library - We will be hosting a forum on Civil and Economic rights, featuring Delegate Adele McClure, Dr. Scott Taylor (President of the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington), and Aderson B. Francois (Georgetown Law). It's going to be a fantastic conversation about the economic legacy of the Civil Rights movement, so please come by! Feel The Heritage Festival (Event Page) The 2024 Feel the Heritage Festival will be held on Sat., Feb. 24, 12:00 - 5 00 PM at Charles Drew Community Center. The festival welcomes hundreds each year to learn about the Arlington’s historically African-American neighborhoods while enjoying live entertainment, delicious food and dozens of vendors. Held for the past 29 years, the festival is organized by Arlington County with terrific support from the community.
