Giving Back After Going Through Breast Cancer

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, fate stepped in in the form of a second opinion with Dr. Marisa Weiss. We immediately connected, and I could tell that she truly wanted to help me. Right away, Dr. Weiss asked me what I was finding to be the hardest thing about being diagnosed. "Trying to understanding it all," I told her.

Little did I know that Dr. Weiss had just created a website where people with breast cancer could find more information and talk with other patients and survivors. Breastcancer.org has not only helped me understand how I would feel before, during, and after treatment, but it has given me a deeply personal, heartwarming feeling for helping others in our community.

This October will be my 18th year hosting Brenda's Benefit Dance to show my gratitude for Breastcancer.org and Dr. Weiss. Thanks to the help of my three amazing sons, my husband, and an awesome dance community, we have made an enormous difference in helping this important organization. This event has empowered me to continue to eat healthy, exercise, be proactive - and help others by paying it forward! It feels so good to help others after having gone through breast cancer myself.

The Breastcancer.org community has reached the depths of my soul with all they have done and continue to do to help people in times of need.

Come dance with me!

Hugs to all,
Brenda
