A bill to ban ghost guns is awaiting action in Harrisburg
Gun Violence Prevention Advocate,
Fifteen-year-olds can’t buy a firearm. But, they can buy an untraceable, ghost gun kit, quickly assemble it in their home and then use it to kill someone.
That’s precisely what happened last week in Delaware County. A teenager is dead, another injured. [1]
Last month, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives advanced a bill to treat ghost gun kits as firearms under the law. That means a background check. It means serial numbers to help law enforcement trace crime guns. [2]
The shooting in Darby is only one example of how ghost guns cause violence.
So why is there opposition in Harrisburg? Because the gun industry knows the skyrocketing sales are often from people who want to hurt others–and cannot legally own a gun because they are too young or have a criminal record. And too many legislators are in the pocket of the gun industry.
