Comrades,

Thank you all for your support of the resolution put forward by our comrades Juan Marcano and Allison Coombs on the Aurora City Council to call for a suspension of rent, mortgage, and utility payments. We’re happy to announce that it passed unanimously!

As a chapter, we have many ongoing projects in motion to provide mutual aid support and advocate for housing justice. To stay on top of what our chapter is doing, please visit this google doc, which is being updated regularly and the best spot to look for how to get engaged in our COVID-19 response.

The Steering Committee is currently making preparations for our April Business Meeting (4/11 from 2-4pm) to be conducted on Zoom. We have many important resolutions we will bring for the chapter’s consideration--including a final vote on our proposed bylaws changes (here’s a strikethrough version of the changes) and a vote to authorize chapter incorporation (so we can set up a bank account, sell merch, and do lots of other awesome stuff). We encourage all of our membership to plan to attend this meeting to vote on these important measures. An official agenda will be distributed a few days before the meeting.

It is likely that voting on these measures will be conducted on Slack to ensure we can verify chapter membership. If you are a DSA member and not currently on Slack, now is a great time to join our channel. While you’re not required to be active on Slack to participate in the chapter, you will need to have an account set up prior to the meeting so we can make sure your vote counts. If you plan to call into the meeting, instead of using your computer, please plan to use your headphones so you can access Slack on your phone during the meeting to vote.

You can join Slack by following these instructions. If you have additional questions about how to use Slack, please check out this guide.

As always, we hope you are staying safe and connecting with your community during this difficult time. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to the Steering Committee on our Slack channel #comm-steering or send us an email at [email protected].

In solidarity,

The Denver DSA Steering Committee
