For more than a decade, Darrill Henry has maintained his innocence for the 2004 murders of an 89-year-old woman and her 67-year-old daughter for which he was convicted. But now that testing has proven that DNA evidence recovered at the scene was not Darrill’s, a judge in Louisiana has ordered his conviction overturned.

While we’re working to get Darrill out of prison as soon as possible, the state is appealing the court’s ruling which overturns his conviction, and Darrill remains incarcerated.

Angola prison, where Darrill is incarcerated, has suspended all visits for at least a month in light of the coronavirus pandemic. But Darrill and others incarcerated across the country are vulnerable during this pandemic since they have little control over their environment and aren’t able to practice social distancing in prison.
We’re continuing to fight for Darrill’s freedom and are checking in with him and all our clients to ensure that they feel supported during this particularly difficult time.
