My work in TX-31 and Congress Howdy Texan – I'm headed to Washington after a packed three days back home in God's country. I wanted to give you an update on the last week. ON THE DOCKET: Putting Biden on Notice What do you think? Local Education Leaders Marine Corps THE BRIEF: The U.S. Marine Corps on Friday released the identities of the five Marines who were killed after their helicopter crashed while flying from Nevada to California during a routine training mission. I send my deepest condolences to these heroes' families. The head of the NYPD’s Lieutenants Benevolent Association has slammed New York City's progressive laws and policies that are hamstringing the police from keeping violent criminals locked up, saying the Big Apple effectively has what amounts to a "catch-and-release" policy for dangerous offenders. The gunman who opened fire into the Texas megachurch on Sunday afternoon had 'Free Palestine' written on the AR-15, according to media reports from the last 24 hours. PUTTING BIDEN ON NOTICE I joined my colleagues in sending President Biden a letter warning him of federalizing the Texas National Guard. Should President Biden choose to federalize the Texas National Guard, it would be an unconstitutional assault on Texas' state sovereignty. While Governor Abbott is working hard, President Biden has chosen to sue the state of Texas and fight every effort to secure the southern border. To read the full letter, click here. WHAT DO YOU THINK? The Senate is considering a bill that provides foreign aid to Israel and Ukraine. I want to know how you feel about it. Do you support giving foreign aid to any ally? Yes, to Israel and Ukraine. Yes, to Israel only. Yes, to Ukraine only. No, I don't support any foreign aid. LOCAL EDUCATION LEADERS I sat down with education leaders from Austin Community College and Temple College to discuss workforce development, higher education, and exciting things happening on their campuses. Our congressional district is blessed to be home to many colleges and universities, and it's exciting to hear about the growth these higher education institutions are experiencing. MARINE CORPS I met with Lt. General Edward Banta the Deputy Commandant for Installations and Logistics in the United States Marine Corps. Lt. Gen. Banta is responsible for Marine bases and stations, so we discussed military readiness, facilities, and warfighting capabilities. While our world becomes more dangerous, I'm committed to providing the resources our military needs to protect the homeland. As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Representing you and Texas in the United States House is an honor and privilege.
