Biden Pauses Approval on Liquefied Natural Gas Export Facilities
President Biden’s decision to “temporarily pause” Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facilities comes in the wake of many years of grassroots organizing, including the 70,000-person march to end fossil fuels in New York last September and hard-hitting research from our Food & Water Watch research team. This is a tremendous step forward, but Republicans in Congress are pushing legislation that could get a vote this week to undo the pause and restrict President Biden’s ability to stop new LNG exports. This campaign isn’t over until ALL fracked gas exports are stopped permanently. Tell your members of Congress to end LNG expansion permanently!
Protecting Local Control of Baltimore City’s Water System
Over the last year, we have worked to protect local control of Baltimore City’s water and sewer system as a new state-appointed task force was poised to recommend a new quasi-governmental authority takeover. With our coalition work and organizing, we have successfully pushed the task force to recommend more due diligence and not rush into a major change. We will continue to fight for local water control and prevent water shutoffs and privatization in Baltimore.

We Stopped Plans for a Gas-fired Power Plant in New Jersey!
NJ TRANSIT, New Jersey’s public transit agency, has pulled the plug on a new gas power plant in a majority Latinx community suffering from decades of industrial pollution. This is the second time our coalition organizing work has defeated this Transitgrid plan, which we’ve been fighting since 2018. This is also the second major gas power plant project we have defeated in New Jersey in the last five months! Read more about this awesome victory.

(NOT SO) FUN FACT
Did you know that California has more mega-dairies than any other state? These industrial-scale farms create an enormous amount of pollution, climate emissions, and waste, which the industry is greenwashing as “biogas” or “renewable natural gas.” What’s worse? California’s laws incentivize factory farms out of state to produce this dirty energy. More factory farms = more pollution = more profit. Check out a map of factory farm sites across the country contributing to this scheme to see how widespread this issue is becoming and why we are determined to stop it.

No Mega-mergers for Oil and Gas Companies
Chesapeake Energy announced plans to acquire Southwestern Energy for $7.4 billion, making it the largest U.S. producer of fracked gas. The company wants to expand oil and gas production, fattening the wallets of oil executives while the climate crisis escalates. Federal agencies must stop oil and gas company mega-mergers like this one. Tell the Federal Trade Commission (FTC): Reject the Chesapeake Energy merger now!
