Hypocritical Republicans are taking credit for laws passed by Democrats. John, When bipartisan legislation is passed through Congress and signed into law by the President, we are given a (sadly, rare) reminder about how our government should work, but too often doesn’t. There are real, critically important differences between the parties at this moment in American history. Democracy, economic justice, reproductive freedom, voting rights: these are all on the line in this election, with most Republicans in favor of using political power to dismantle and destroy democracy and those freedoms that we have enjoyed because of it. But our system requires that despite those fundamental differences, leaders come together to fix problems. Infrastructure has long been one of those problems, and thanks to the leadership of President Biden, Members of Congress from both parties came together to make some overdue investments in our bridges, roads, and public transportation. Although some Republicans voted for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, many did not. My opponent Rep. Troy Balderson was one such member who voted against this landmark bill every step of the way. But no matter the way they voted, every Member of Congress has taken credit for the infrastructure law’s essential investments in our communities. Balderson, like many other Republicans, voted against the very thing he is now taking credit for. It’s a classic political setup: he voted no, then took the dough. Hypocrites like Balderson are calculating that voters either don’t know or don’t care about their representatives taking credit for popular legislation they opposed. It's on us to call them on it and make sure political hypocrisy is punished at the ballot box. That's why I'm asking for your support: so that my team and I can show voters a real alternative, someone who will always fight for what our communities need, not just during an election year: If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Donate $10 Donate $25 Donate $50 Donate $100 Donate $250 Donate $500 Thank you for helping me win this race and flip the U.S. House in November.
