Dear John,

We’re celebrating LOVE this week, which has many of us thinking about cards, flowers, and chocolate. At Plastic Pollution Coalition, we’re thinking about hearts. There shouldn’t be plastic in anyone’s heart, and yet microplastics, the tiny toxic particles that all plastics shed, have recently been confirmed to be polluting this most vital organ. So this Valentine’s Day, consider giving a gift that will help put a stop to microplastics: [make a donation to Plastic Pollution Coalition in honor of a loved one.]([link removed])

Shifting the systems that led humanity to the point where we have tiny pieces of plastic in our hearts won’t be easy. It will require participation from governments, businesses large and small, and individuals. Creating and leading that participation is exactly what Plastic Pollution Coalition was built to do. Here are just a few examples of how we do it:

- We are advocating for a strong UN Plastics Treaty, and to help in those efforts have created the Global Plastics Laws Database, a resource center for plastic legislation that has been passed across the globe, for those on the front lines of countering plastic pollution.
- We advocate to pass U.S. federal and state legislation, including the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act, which would have an enormous impact on reducing plastic pollution.

- We are working with the entertainment industry to model real solutions to the plastic pollution crisis—on set, on screen, and in storylines—to help shift societal and cultural values.

- We challenge the perception that bottled water and PVC pipes are the answers to replacing lead pipes through our growing Filtered Not Bottled campaign.

We’re doing all of this and much more, and it all furthers our goal of turning back the tide of plastic pollution. We need your support to keep doing it. [Please consider honoring someone you care about by contributing today.]([link removed])

We should all be able to spend Valentine’s Day with people we love, smelling flowers, and eating chocolate– not having to think about plastic in our hearts. Please help us achieve this.

Onward with love and gratitude,

[Dianna Cohen]
