A major climate win was just announced, folks!

To combat deadly air pollution, the EPA is cracking down on soot and smoke production by raising the U.S.’s pollution standards.

Here’s what that means: Corporate polluters are finally being held accountable for damaging the air we breathe.

While Trump was in office, he gutted critical protections that made our air and water cleaner and safer. The EPA was filled to the brim with oil and coal lobbyists who simply didn’t care about the damage they were doing. Black and Brown communities in particular were disproportionately affected by unchecked corporate pollution.

Now, we’re getting back on course. But there’s still plenty of work to do before our environment is fully protected. The EPA’s tougher pollution standards are a great first step, but there’s more we can do to make a difference.
