John,

Immediately after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade , many states turned their backs on women. Some states even had trigger laws in place that would immediately ban the right to an abortion as soon as the decision was announced.

This is wrong.

As a strong supporter of a woman’s right to have bodily autonomy, including the right to an abortion, I firmly support the Vote Yes for Reproductive Freedom initiative to protect the right to an abortion and birth control in our state constitution.

I recently spoke at an event encouraging Marylanders to vote YES on the upcoming initiative on our ballot this November. The Reproductive Freedom Referendum will protect the right to abortion and birth control in the state constitution. It will protect this right, no matter who is in office in the future. I know that while Wes is in office, he will do what it takes to protect reproductive rights, including getting this initiative passed.

This referendum will protect future generations from anyone trying to take away our freedoms. We cannot make the mistake of assuming that the attacks will stop. We must fight to ensure anyone who serves after Wes will not have the power to take away abortion rights. We cannot, and will not, turn back the clock.

So let’s get this done, Maryland.

Thank you for supporting this fight,

Dawn Flythe Moore
First Lady of Maryland
