Dear Friend,
In a divided Congress, there aren't many bills that have bipartisan support. But right now, the House has the opportunity to pass an exciting package of outdoor recreation bills called the EXPLORE Act! The EXPLORE Act, bipartisan legislation that includes a bundle of separate bills within it, contains an extensive set of measures aimed at promoting equity, inclusion, and expanded access to the outdoors for all.
Access to nature is a human right. Everyone deserves to benefit from the positive health and wellness effects from spending time outdoors. Too many of us face barriers to getting outdoors frequently, whether it's time, energy, money, or location proximity. The EXPLORE Act aims to decrease obstacles to nature access for veterans, youth and their families, and communities with fewer resources and access to nearby green space.
Here are some highlights that the EXPLORE Act would make possible with the legislation it contains:
-
More children will be able to connect with nature through the extension of the Every Kid Outdoors program.
-
The package includes pieces from the Military Veterans in Parks Act and Get Rewarding Outdoor Work for our Veterans Act, promoting opportunities and enhancing outdoor recreation experiences for veterans and active duty members.
-
The Outdoors for All Act would provide funding for outdoor recreation sites in economically disadvantaged communities.
-
The Simplifying Outdoor Access for Recreation Act would simplify and streamline permitting processes for guides, outfitters, outdoor leaders, and nonprofit organizations,
The House needs to act now to move this bill through this legislative session. There is no more time to waste – after all, the EXPLORE Act is bipartisan and can help a wide variety of communities across the country. Urge Congress to act now and pass the EXPLORE Act!
