** IOM Combats COVID-19 With Clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

This week’s World Water Day is being marked in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, a health crisis that is impacting every corner of the globe.
Some 2.2 billion people lack safe drinking water and 4.2 billion people live without access to adequate sanitation. Meanwhile, the devastating effects of climate change continue to compromise the ability of communities to access safe, clean water.
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, IOM is adjusting its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services to prevent the spread of the disease. Teams are ensuring the continuity of operations that address environmental sustainability and accountability to the people it serves.
These projects are fundamental to fighting the virus, creating a more sustainable future and preserving the health and well-being of millions.
