Inslee appoints RaShelle Davis to lead Office of Administrative Hearings
Gov. Jay Inslee announced today that he is appointing RaShelle Davis to serve as executive director and chief administrative law judge for the state?s Office of Administrative Hearings. The position was previously held by Lorraine Lee who retired last year.
Davis has extensive experience in state government and law. She became a licensed attorney in 2008 and went on to serve policy advisor roles at the state?s then-named Department of Early Learning and in the Office of the Governor. While in the governor?s office she helped oversee the creation of the Washington State Women?s Commission, Washington State LGBTQ Commission, and the Washington State Equity Office. She currently serves as the director of operations at the state?s Office of Civil Legal Aid.
?RaShelle?s personal mission of providing people access to justice aligns with the work of this agency. She has served in numerous agencies, including almost 10 years in my office,? Inslee said. ?She has a deep commitment to public service and promoting inclusive, equitable workplaces. I?m grateful for her willingness to lead this office, which serves thousands of Washingtonians, to ensure everyone is treated with dignity and granted due process.?
?I am honored to serve the people of Washington as the next executive director and Chief ALJ of OAH,? said Davis. ?I have dedicated my career to public service, and I am excited to lead this agency that plays a critical role in providing access to justice.?
Davis grew up in Tacoma. She received her bachelor?s degree from the University of Puget Sound and law degree from New York University School of Law.
Administrative Law Judge Edward Pesik has been serving as interim executive director since Lee?s retirement.
?I would like to thank Ed for stepping up while we found a permanent director and for his continued service to the people of Washington going forward,? Inslee said.
Davis?s appointment is effective May 1.
