Dear Friends,

We are pleased to share that Lisa Clauson, the founder of CLU back in 2005, is returning as Interim Director while supporting the organization as we conduct a search for a new Executive Director. Lisa will work with staff and coalition partners to continue and expand CLU’s important organizing campaigns, bringing together unions and community-based organizations to build power for all workers and the communities we live in.

In addition to founding Community Labor United, Lisa brings years of organizing experience in both the community and labor sectors. Prior to CLU, Lisa spent decades building power and developing grassroots leadership in working class communities through Boston and Massachusetts. After leaving CLU, Lisa organized with both UNITE HERE Local 26, Boston’s hotel and food service workers union, and the Carpenters Union.

Community Labor United is in the midst of several exciting and groundbreaking campaigns helping ensure the local transition to a greener, healthier future also links people in marginalized communities with good union jobs. Additionally, CLU and our partner organizations are eliminating barriers to this work through setting precedents in childcare partnerships and creating new opportunities for affordable transportation.

We are excited Lisa has agreed to return as CLU continues to pursue its goals for worker justice, economic justice, and environmental justice. We will keep you updated on our transition throughout the year. Please join us in welcoming Lisa!

In solidarity,

Darlene Lombos
President of the Greater Boston Labor Council
Board Chair of Community Labor United
