Donald Trump spent the weekend warning senators not to pass more US foreign aid, days after forcing Republicans to tank a bipartisan package tying said aid to immigration policy changes because it might have looked like a political win for President Biden. More than a dozen GOP senators ignored the serially indicted con man anyway, moving forward on a bill to send $95 billion in standalone aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan with a decisive 67-27 vote. The measure has little chance of passing the House, however, where MAGA goons have a stranglehold on their clown caucus and are showing no signs of defying their cult leader.

You heard that right. The presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party is publicly telling Vladimir Putin in the clearest of terms that, under a second Trump presidency, he can and will be able to pursue whatever imperial aims he pleases, including attacking American allies, with impunity.
