Road to Recovery

What to Know: Economic recovery must go hand-in-hand with public health recovery.

The TPPF Take: Americans—and Texans—are at their best when they’re working together toward a brighter future.

“We must, of course, do our best to stop the spread of COVID-19,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “But our response to the virus should not destroy the economy. Let’s look for innovative ways to ensure the well-being of our families and our neighbors—both physically and economically.”

Good News in These Tough Times

What to Know: Community leaders such as Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale (a TPPF Sam Houston Award recipient) continue to show how we can care for each other during times of crisis. Mack is feeding kids and senior citizens.

The TPPF Take: America remains the best place on Earth because we rely on ourselves and each other, not government.

“For people striving to find a better life by being productive members of society, the United States — and Texas in particular — still offers the best chance to pursue your happiness,” says TPPF’s Carine Martinez, who became a U.S. citizen one year ago this month. “More than in many other countries, your path to success is in your own hands — it does not depend on government’s capacity to take from Paul to make Peter successful.”

Habeas Corpus

What to Know: Studies continue to claim that air pollution (PM2.5) is killing thousands—even millions—of Americans.

The TPPF Take: Such studies rely on a faulty statistical figure—and no bodies need be produced.

“The results are not based on toxicology or medically verified causes of death. Instead, it’s based on a mathematical construct called ‘statistical lives’ — a misleading number that doesn’t represent any actual human lives,” says TPPF’s Katie Tahuahua. “No single human being has been identified in such studies as perishing at the hands of fossil fuels. In reality, fossil fuels have dramatically improved health, life expectancy, and quality of life the world over.”
