A Halftime Update on My Legislation

Below are several bills I authored or supported that passed the Senate during the first half of session.

Senate Bill 5 would enable utility companies with Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC)-approved lead line service replacement plans to replace lead pipes quicker, more efficiently and at a lower cost.

Senate Bill 17 would require websites that publish pornographic content to use reasonable age verification methods to ensure Hoosier children are being protected online.

Senate Bill 20, which I authored, would specify that the Alcohol and Tobacco Commission may issue restaurant permits for a municipal riverfront development district established by a town, which gives smaller communities access to more economic development tools.

I am happy to see these bills moving to the House of Representatives for further consideration and look forward to productive dialogue with my colleagues about the bills arriving from the House.

Halftime at the Statehouse

The General Assembly wrapped up the first half of session last week, which means Senate bills that did not pass the Senate and House bills that did not pass the House of Representatives will not move forward in the legislative process.

Now, both chambers will trade each other's bills that passed in the first half of session for further consideration. The General Assembly has until March 14 to complete all legislative business for the 2024 legislative session.
