The precarious state of press freedom in Turkey, entwined with a deteriorating democratic environment, poses significant challenges to journalists.
In response to these threats, or partner, the Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA), actively defends press freedom and human rights through legal defence and advocating for journalists’ rights.
We spoke with co-founder of MLSA, Barış Altıntaş, about MLSA’s crucial work and the situation for journalists in Turkey.

Clare Rewcastle Brown, editor of the Sarawak Report, has been sentenced in Malaysia to two years in absentia for her reporting on corruption.
This ruling comes as a shock with no prior notification was given to her or her legal team.
