Hi John —

I’m in San Francisco trying to squeeze in some debate prep in between
campaign events before I take the stage in tomorrow’s U.S. Senate debate.

This will be our first televised debate since county elections offices
mailed ballots to every registered voter in California. Millions of
Californians have ballots *in their hands* — so I don’t need to tell you
why today is the most important day yet of this election.

Usually, our best fundraising days of the month don’t come until the very
end. But the truth is that if we wait until February 29 for a final boost
before Primary Day on March 5, it’ll already be too late. Especially with
my pre-primary filing deadline with the Federal Election Commission later
this week.

undecided. We need to raise $125,000 before midnight in order to reach

The last time we took the debate stage, Steve Garvey, the conservative
celebrity Republican without a shred of political experience, called me a
liar repeatedly. Fox News teed up a softball interview for him to
broadcast his attacks across cable news to every conservative in
California.

Another one of my opponents has launched a series of attacks so uncalled
for in recent weeks that California’s trailblazing former Senator Barbara
Boxer came off the sidelines to endorse our campaign.

And that opponent’s side just upped the ante: Their super PAC is buying a
$500,000 ad blitz that POLITICO called a “surgical strike” in the final
weeks of this primary election.

attacks — that’s why we can’t miss this $125,000 goal.
