Before running for elected office, I spent decades of my career in nursing and public health, working at some of our state’s largest health care institutions. 

The health and safety of individuals in this state is why I became lieutenant governor — because every Wisconsinite deserves access to quality, affordable health care and prescription drugs that won’t break the bank.

We’re working hard to champion policies that would expand BadgerCare — but Republicans have rejected our proposals again and again.

70% of Wisconsinites support expanding BadgerCare. 70%! Still, Republicans won’t budge — and today, Wisconsin is one of only ten states in the nation that hasn’t accepted expansion. 

While Republican legislators continue to play politics with people’s health and insurance, I'm fighting to address the pressing issues facing our state. Right now, we once again have the opportunity to do the right thing, listen to the will of the people, and invest in the health and well-being of Wisconsinites.

And despite some GOP lawmakers saying BadgerCare expansion “will never happen,” I promise that we will not stop fighting to expand health care coverage, lower prescription costs for everyone, and protect folks from outrageous out-of-pocket expenses.
