I am honored to report just before kickoff that we had a big play on the winning drive — Renay Grace Rodriguez, President of the Stonewall Democratic Club*, just endorsed my campaign for Congress! It’s humbling to have Renay’s support and friendship as we fight to preserve the right of all people to be who they are and love whom they love. Earlier in the campaign, I was proud to have been endorsed by glendaleOut. Adding Renay cements our campaign as a place where human rights and student health and welfare are at the forefront.
Renay has been a champion of human rights in the LGBTQ+ community for decades. I’ve been proud to stand with her as a leader dedicated to ending homelessness, making healthcare affordable for everyone, and ensuring that all children have access to high-quality and inclusive education.
Growing up with a gay brother in the ‘70s, standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community was something my mother instilled in me for as long as I can remember. In a time when extremists are trying to erase the progress we’ve made over the last 50 years, this issue is personal to me. If elected to Congress, the fight for equality and justice and against hate will continue to be a top priority. I will stand up to bullies and work to pass laws that protect and promote the wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community.
