Happy Sunday – we hope you are enjoying your weekend! | Welcome back to Team Elise's weekly newsletter! We send a weekly note to Elise's supporters to update you on what she's working on in Capitol Hill and across NY-21! | Here are a few top Team Elise updates and stories we have been tracking for the past week! | ICYMI: Elise Joins CNN’s ‘The Source’ | On Thursday night, Elise joined CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins to discuss attempts from Far Left Democrats to illegally remove President Donald Trump from the ballot, the two-tiered system of justice, Joe Biden’s plummeting in the poll numbers, and much, much more. | “Well, it shows that the Left and the Democrat Party and Joe Biden’s campaign, they know they're going to lose at the ballot box which is why you’re seeing lawfare. You’re seeing witch hunt after witch hunt, court case after court case, going after Joe Biden’s top political opponent which is Donald Trump. And today was a very bad day for Joe Biden. It was a very bad day in court for the Left. It was a very bad day for the Colorado bogus court case. It was a very good day for President Trump, and it was a good day for the Constitution and the American people. The American people are going to make this decision in November not radical bureaucrats from the state of Colorado, not radical judges, or Far Left prosecutors.” | MUST WATCH: Elise’s Full Interview with Kaitlan Collins. | Elise Slams Far Left NY Democrats for “No-Excuse” Absentee Voting | On Monday, the Albany Supreme Court upheld a law expanding New York’s early voting program to allow widespread no-excuse balloting by mail. Elise has been fighting to ensure New Yorkers have legal and valid elections and slammed the decision immediately upon its release. Elise stated – | “This decision is wrong, and we look forward to appealing on behalf of hardworking New Yorkers who deserve legal and valid elections. | New York’s State Constitution is incredibly clear and requires a constitutional amendment to expand absentee voting. Even the Far Left radical Albany Legislature understands this, which is why in 2021, it submitted an amendment to allow “no-excuse” absentee voting. The people of New York rejected that amendment in a landslide at the ballot box. | Now Albany Democrats continue to shamelessly believe they are above the law and that just because they changed the name from absentee ballot to mail-in ballot, they don't need to follow the Constitution. | We strongly disagree with the court’s decision and believe our position will be upheld on appeal.” | Elise and House Republican Leadership Release Statement Condemning the Biden/Schumer Border Bill | On Tuesday, Elise joined Speaker Mike Johnson, Leader Steve Scalise, and Whip Tom Emmer in a statement condemning Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer’s out-of-touch border bill. Joe Biden took 94 executive actions in his first 100 days to create the Biden Border Crisis. He has done NOTHING to stop this crisis. House GOP Leadership stated – | “House Republicans oppose the Senate immigration bill because it fails in every policy area needed to secure our border and would actually incentivize more illegal immigration. | “Among its many flaws, the bill expands work authorizations for illegal aliens while failing to include critical asylum reforms. Even worse, its language allowing illegals to be ‘released from physical custody’ would effectively endorse the Biden ‘catch and release’ policy. | “The so-called ‘shutdown’ authority in the bill is anything but, riddled with loopholes that grant far too much discretionary authority to Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas – who has proven he will exploit every measure possible, in defiance of the law, to keep the border open. | “The bill also fails to adequately stop the President’s abuse of parole authority and provides for taxpayer funds to fly and house illegal immigrants in hotels through the FEMA Shelter and Services Program. | “Because President Biden has refused to utilize his broad executive authority to end the border catastrophe that he has created, the House led nine months ago with the passage of the Secure the Border Act (H.R. 2). That bill contains the necessary components to actually stem the flow of illegals and end the present crisis. The Senate must take it up immediately. | “America’s sovereignty is at stake. | “Any consideration of this Senate bill in its current form is a waste of time. It is DEAD on arrival in the House. We encourage the U.S. Senate to reject it.” | READ MORE – Washington Examiner: House GOP leaders slam Senate’s bipartisan border bill as ‘waste of time’ | ICYMI: Elise – ‘Trump Did NOT Commit Insurrection, It’s a Fact’ | On Tuesday, Elise joined Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) to discuss their resolution affirming that President Donald Trump did not engage in insurrection or rebellion against the United States. Elise highlighted how Far Left Democrat operatives are attempting to use this lie to illegally prevent President Trump from returning to the White House, shredding the Constitution in the process. | READ MORE – The Hill: Gaetz, Stefanik offer resolution declaring Trump ‘did not engage in insurrection’ | Elise Denounces 'Dangerous Precedent' as D.C. Court of Appeals Rejects Trump's Presidential Immunity | Following the disastrous ruling from the D.C. Court of Appeals regarding President Trump’s presidential immunity, Elise released the following statement condemning the decision – | "The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruling that President Donald Trump does not have immunity from prosecution sets a dangerous precedent, violates our Constitution, and threatens the very bedrock of our nation. President Trump's actions surrounding election integrity were within his official duties as the President as he was investigating legitimate Constitutional questions about the election. The precedent set today by the D.C. Circuit's decision means that future presidents who leave office will likely face politicized prosecutions by the opposing party. The President of the United States must have immunity, like Members of Congress and federal judges, which is necessary for any presidency to function properly. I fully support President Trump's efforts to appeal this unconstitutional ruling to the Supreme Court, where I expect a thoughtful decision to overturn this dangerous precedent." | Elise Speaks Out in Support of Israel Aid and Border Security | On Tuesday, Elise joined House colleagues to discuss the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which would provide lifesaving funding and resources to our most precious ally Israel, and protect American service members who are under attack from Iranian-backed terrorists. Elise also discussed the House vote to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his willful and systemic refusal to enforce our immigration laws and breach of public trust. Elise stated – | “This week, House Republicans continue to lead on key issues facing Americans at home and threats facing our troops and allies abroad. Unlike Joe Biden, House Republicans stand with Israel, and we will vote on the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act: a standalone 17.6 billion-dollar package which will provide lifesaving funding and resources to stand with Israel and protect American soldiers who have been under attack from Iranian-backed proxies. Under Joe Biden, over one hundred and fifty attacks have been carried out against American soldiers by Iranian terrorists and their supporters. Joe Biden's weakness has emboldened our adversaries abroad and put American lives at risk. Providing funding for our troops and ensuring Israel has the resources to defend itself from the onslaught of unprovoked terrorist backed attacks is not political or partisan. It is a moral imperative. Here at home, Joe Biden’s weakness and open border policies have left our borders wide open. Millions of illegal immigrants have invaded our country due to Joe Biden's open border, executive actions. And while Joe Biden and Extreme Democrats push non-starter legislation that will only worsen the crisis at our border, House Republicans have already passed H.R. 2, the strongest border package ever, and this week, we will vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his willful and systemic refusal to enforce our immigration laws and breach of public trust.” | Chairwoman Stefanik Calls out Joe Biden’s Disgraceful Border Speech | On Tuesday, President Joe Biden made an unsuccessful attempt to shift blame for his administration's failures in securing the border. He claimed that Congress was responsible for these shortcomings rather than taking responsibility himself. Since the beginning of his presidency, President Biden has implemented various measures aimed at undermining border security and undoing the progress made in immigration control during the previous administration. Elise released the following statement – | “It is offensive and appalling that Joe Biden is so politically desperate that he is attempting to shift blame to others for the Biden Border Crisis that he himself created with his failed policies and dangerous executive actions. The Border is wide open because of Joe Biden. And America knows it. Joe Biden used his executive authority to open the border up. He can use it to shut it down. Shame on the media for serving as stenographers for Joe Biden’s desperate attempt to rewrite history and shirk responsibility. House Republicans passed the Secure the Border Act which actually secures the border which Joe Biden vehemently opposed. This is why in poll after poll, President Trump is winning. We must elect President Trump who had the most secure border in my lifetime during his presidency.” | Elise Endorses Nancy Dahlstrom for Alaska | This week, Elise and E-PAC endorsed Lt. Governor Nancy Dahlstrom for Congress in Alaska’s at-large district. Nancy Dahlstrom was elected to serve as Alaska’s 15th Lieutenant Governor in 2022, and has worked on behalf of hardworking Alaskan families since 2003 in various capacities. | Elise Secures Funding for Paul Smith’s College | Following Elise’s leadership and advocacy for higher education in the North Country, she was proud to announce that the Northern Border Regional Commission will award $1 million in awards to Paul Smith’s College located in Franklin County. | “I always deliver results for our district which is why I am pleased to announce that following my advocacy on behalf of the application from Paul Smith’s College to the Northern Border Regional Commission the college will be receiving $1 million for essential infrastructure enhancements integral to its long-term stability and the betterment of our region,” said Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. “Paul Smith’s College plays a pivotal role in Upstate New York’s economy and is uniquely situated as one of only two forestry schools in New York offering degrees accredited by the Society of American Foresters. The vital infrastructure enhancements this award will fund will guarantee their ability to prepare a highly skilled, well-trained, and career-ready workforce for our forest economy, as it has diligently done for over 75 years.” | Watch the news coverage from ABC 22 News here. | Thank you so much for your support of Chairwoman Elise Stefanik!
