It’s often said that the Super Bowl is the largest human trafficking event in the world. But is this really true?

The truth is, there is no definitive data that proves a significant increase in sex trafficking during the Super Bowl. This recurring narrative may be misleading and can distract from the real issue at hand: that sex and labor trafficking occurs in the US and around the world every single day.

According to the International Labour Organization, there are nearly 49.6 million people trapped in human trafficking globally. This is a staggering number and highlights the harsh reality of this crime. And while it may be tempting to believe that large events like the Super Bowl are the main drivers of human trafficking, the truth is that it’s an ongoing issue that requires constant attention and action.

As we gear up for the Super Bowl, let’s shift our focus from sensationalized headlines to addressing the root causes of human trafficking.

One way you can do that is by becoming a Justice Partner. As a monthly supporter, your gifts will provide the resources needed to bring lasting hope and freedom to men, women, and children experiencing this every day.
