Friend,
Did you know that 1 in 4 Americans with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes has rationed their insulin due to high costs? American patients have long paid more than Canadians, Brits, or Germans for the very same medication. That’s just wrong.
This year, the three largest insulin manufacturers capped out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35 per month [[link removed]] . Moreover, the list prices for insulin have been reduced by 70%. This change was driven by reforms to the Medicaid rebate program and built on the progress of the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped insulin prices for Medicare enrollees.
I’ve spent years fighting for these cost savings, in no small part because my constituents have voiced their frustration about the high cost of insulin at every Town Hall meeting I’ve held. I’m grateful that they have so consistently made their voices heard, and I’m thrilled to share that this overdue reform has finally taken effect.
