Israeli tanks kill 6-year-old Palestinian girl and the paramedics trying to rescue her
Six-year-old Hind Rajab made an emergency call for help, the lone survivor of an Israeli tank attack on her family's car as they tried to flee a Gaza city under siege. On the recording of the call, her plea for help is cut short by the sounds of gunfire, leading to dire suspicions that were confirmed Saturday when Hind was found dead along with two paramedics who had been trying to save her. The Palestinian Red Crescent accused Israel of deliberately targeting the ambulance and crew despite obtaining prior coordination. It is the 122nd ambulance attacked by IDF in the four-month war that began with Hamas' terror attack on Israel that killed 1,200 and took more than 200 hostages. Since October 7, Netanyahu's forces have killed 27,947 people, including 12,150 children, 85 journalists, 135 UN aid workers — a rate of innocent casualties without modern precedent.

Texas set to execute man convicted on very questionable evidence
MoveOn: Texas plans to execute Ivan Cantu on February 28, 2024, for killing his cousin and his wife — but there is so much wrong with the case against him, including false testimony, evidence withheld by prosecution, and key witnesses later recanted. Cantu swears that he's being framed by rival drug dealers and even three trial jurors have said that had they possibly would have rendered a different verdict if they'd known what they know now.That doesn't seem to matter to Texas, which is intent on putting him to death anyway. Will you sign the petition to delay the execution until the truth comes out?
Top Republican, flush with corporate cash, embraces racist conspiracy theory
In today's episode of Capitalism Hates Democracy, we discover just how major corporations are funneling huge amounts of money to a key member of the current GOP House leadership team, North Carolina's Richard Hudson, despite his open embrace of the staggeringly racist "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory. Recently, Hudson posted on Twitter that President Biden "opened the border and refused to do anything about it" while quoting a post from Elon Musk which made the appalling claim that Biden is importing immigrants to create a one-party state. As chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, Hudson's job is to raise millions of dollars to fund television ads. Under his leadership, many of these ads have fearmongered about the dangers of immigration. That hasn't stopped him from receiving huge checks from corporations that like to pretend they're champions of a path to citizenship for Dreamers and other immigrants. Microsoft, Google, Amazon, AT&T, MGM, Eli Lilly, Intel, Verizon, you name it — all these companies claim to support immigrants, democracy, and diversity, while funneling buckets of money into Hudson's account and the NRCC's war chest.

ICE's use of solitary confinement only increasing in the last three years
A shocking new report has revealed that the notoriously brutal Immigration and Customs Enforcement — which gleefully carried out Trump's child separation policy and conducted his terror raids against immigrants across the country — has continued locking thousands of immigrants in solitary confinement. While this practice has persisted for over a decade, the use of solitary confinement against migrants, who aren't prisoners and haven't been convicted of crimes, has only increased since Trump left office. "This is a sheer failure of the Biden administration to stop egregious human rights abuses," writes Tessa Wilson, a senior program officer for Physicians for Human Rights. The average length of the recorded confinements was 27 days, researchers found, stretching well beyond the 15-day period that meets the threshold for "inhuman and degrading treatment" defined by the UN special rapporteur on torture.

Right-wing 4chan trolls launch misogynistic AI tool to "clothe" women online
Paging Dr. Freud! A group of incel weirdos in the cesspits of the internet have created the "DignifyAI" bot, which will take a picture of a scantily clad woman and add clothes, add children, and remove tattoos — and it's predictably spread like wildfire throughout the right-wing Twitterverse. The results are, frankly, terrifying, as the AI clearly is not too familiar with how the human body works or what fingers look like. It's bad enough that right-wingers are forcing women to become mothers by passing draconian anti-abortion laws; now women can't even exist in online spaces without having some man forcibly impose his whore-Madonna fetish on them. Coming so soon after the heels of the Taylor Swift AI pornography scandal, it's clear that the use of AI has become another battleground in the fight for control over women and their bodies in a patriarchal society that fundamentally sees women as objects to be exploited at will.
