Friends,

This week marks the historic passage of the Voting Rights Act which officially outlawed racial discrimination at the ballot box.

Sadly, 54 years later, the struggle to ensure equal access to voting rights for all Americans continues — which is why I’m committed to working to protect equal access to voting for all Americans.

In honor of the anniversary of this landmark legislation, I’m calling on my colleagues in Washington to stand in support of voting rights - will you join me?

A 2013 ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court overturned key provisions within the Voting Rights Act and took us backward in the fight to end racial discrimination in voting.

This combined with aggressive gerrymandering efforts by the radical right within the GOP has put voting rights for some of our most marginalized communities at risk.

Protecting voting rights is tantamount to protecting our democracy, and that is more important than ever as we head into the 2020 elections.
