Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

It was another busy week here in Washington. I would like to encourage you to share this newsletter with others. Please direct them using this link and encourage them to subscribe.

Lesko Meetings this Week

It was great being back in the district last weekend and to meet with constituents at the Dodie Londen meeting and discuss everything we’re doing to help Arizona here in Congress.

This week, I had the opportunity to meet with federal correction officers from the district to discuss the different ways Congress can assist them for the future.

Image
I had a great meeting with Soleo Health to discuss the many healthcare services they offer in the district and what Congress can do to help them continue providing patients with valuable in-home treatment options.

Ensuring that Americans have access to affordable energy and utilities is essential. I met with the National Energy and Utility Affordability Coalition to discuss this and ways Congress can help.

Lesko in the News

Illegal immigrants are beating up cops, New York is handing out credit cards to illegals, terrorists are crossing the border, and Arizona Speaker of the House Ben Toma and Senate President Warren Peterson are having to support Texas defending itself because AZ Democrat Governor Hobbs won't.

This is outrageous! The migrant crisis is out of control.

Crime in cities across the country has gotten out of control thanks to the Biden Administration’s insane open-border policies, especially in Arizona!

Lesko in Committee

Stopping the progress of building Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) terminals is irrational!

LNG technology has allowed the U.S. to reduce our carbon emissions and we could help our allies abroad do the same if Biden would stop his insane anti-LNG agenda.

Protecting the security of America’s medicine supply must be a top priority. The Energy and Commerce Committee’s Oversight Subcommittee held a hearing focusing on this, specifically the FDA’s foreign drug inspection program.

GET THE FACTS: Girls and Women in Sports Day

February 7th was National Girls and Women in Sports Day! This day is so important to recognize the amazing achievements female athletes have had across all sports, as well as to bring awareness to the important work that needs to be done to preserve athletic spaces for women and girls. Allowing biological men to compete in women's sports does not allow a fair and equal playing field. The American Journal of Physiology published a study on the differences between men's and women's skeletal muscle and concluded male muscles on average generate a higher maximum power output than female muscles, and male muscles have a higher capacity for anaerobic metabolism. Another study, done by the American College of Sports Medicine, concluded adult males, when compared to adult females of similar age and training, had between a 10-30% advantage in athletic performance when endurance or muscular power was required. These studies highlight the importance of ensuring only biological women and girls are allowed to compete in women's athletics to guarantee a fair and safe athletic environment. Without this, women and girls could soon see lost scholarships, severe injuries, and more. That's why I'm pleased to have cosponsored legislation with Rep. Erin Houchin (R-IN-09) to recognize February 7, 2024, as National Girls and Women in Sports Day!

Around the District

Team Lesko presented a Congressional Recognition to Officer Shaylee Diamond of the Surprise Police Department for her bravery during a DUI call where she prevented an incapacitated driver from harming anyone by pulling in front of the car of the passed-out driver.

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office for assistance with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). He was unable to get a resolution on his request to increase his federal pension after a change in entitlement. We contacted OPM and asked them to review the constituent’s request. As a result, the benefit was corrected, and the constituent received an updated and correct payment.
