Dear John,

Biden’s border is broken.

… but our principles offer a clear policy framework to fix it.

As advocates for individual liberty and limited government, I urge you to
consider the border crisis and immigration from a perspective of freedom and
responsibility.

Recently, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) unveiled the 'Four Pillars of Border
Security and Visa Reform
<[link removed]>
' framework alongside former Chief Patrol Agent Chris Clem and 18 Members of
Congress.

This framework represents a crucial step towards addressing the crisis at our
southwest border while also restoring confidence in our nation's immigration
system.

Here’s each pillar—aligned to our shared principles:

* Secure Border and Ports: At the heart of our principles are individual
rights and the protection of property. A secure border and ports are essential
not only for national security, but also for upholding the rule of law and
safeguarding the rights of American citizens.
* Increase American Competitiveness: Competitors like China are aggressively
pursuing technological advancements. By attracting the best minds from around
the world, we can ensure our leadership position in key industries while
fostering innovation and progress.
* Clear and Predictable Rules: Our current immigration system creates
unnecessary hurdles for law-abiding individuals while it empowers dangerous,
bad actors. Simplifying these rules is not only a matter of efficiency, but
also of justice. A clear and predictable immigration system promotes
transparency and fairness under the law.
* Transparency, Accountability, and Due Process: We believe regular reports
from the Department of Homeland Security, coupled with measures to prevent
arbitrary decisions and violations of due process, are essential for
maintaining public trust and confidence in our immigration system.

These principles offer practical solutions to the challenges we face at our
southwest border—and to the new threats at our northern one.

By promoting freedom, responsibility, and the rule of law, we can work towards
a more secure and prosperous future for all Americans.

Best,

—Jordan

PS: I’d be remiss if I didn’t extend a shout out to our Immigration Federal
Affairs Liaison, Daniel Tillson, who spearheaded theproduction of the Four
Pillars document and coordinated the launch reception last week.
