Would it surprise you to learn that we have an end-of-quarter fundraising deadline coming up for our campaign—and that it’s coming up next weekend?
See, most of our deadlines in state politics are based around the four quarters of the year—January to the end of March, April to the end of June, and so on. These deadlines are important not just as campaign milestones, but because it’s important to make sure that we have transparency and public scrutiny over our elections.
And with the primary this year coming on March 5th, our first quarter deadline is actually midnight on February 17th, a week from today, so that reports will be in and voters who care to do so will have a chance to review them before election day.
Which also means that this report will be our last chance before the primary to show North Carolina what this campaign is made of.
I know it’s the weekend—and Super Bowl weekend at that—so politics is probably the last thing on your mind. But with early voting less than a week away, and the first quarter fundraising deadline coming up fast, what we raise over the next few days will have a real, material impact on how many voters we can reach before the primary election.
And in a race like ours, which isn’t going to get the media attention of the Gubernatorial or Presidential elections, voter contact could make or break us. All the data suggests we’re ahead, but if we want to make sure that Democrats nominate the strongest possible candidate to flip the Treasurer’s office in November, then sitting idle could be a disaster.
So if you can afford it, I would sincerely appreciate any contribution you can make ahead of the deadline next weekend. Even $25 will go a long way toward helping us get our message in front of more voters, and bring us that much closer to winning.
