Congressman Grothman honors Trooper Casper on the House Floor in September

I am proud to share that, in addition to my bill honoring Trooper Casper, I had two more pieces of legislation pass through Committees this week. 

Last week, Representative Kweisi Mfume (D-MD) and I introduced bipartisan legislation to increase transparency and efficiency within the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the CBO Data Access Act. Given our nation's substantial debt, this bill will provide U.S. taxpayers with more timely information on the fiscal impact of legislative proposals. I am grateful for my colleagues on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability for voting to move this bill forward unanimously.

The second bill, the Eliminate Useless Reports Act, passed through the House Budget Committee. This legislation will provide federal agencies with the tools to eliminate duplicative and outdated reports to streamline the budget process. With this bill signed into law, U.S. lawmakers can better focus their efforts on addressing our mounting debt. 

I remain committed to continuing the fight for fiscal responsibility and transparency on behalf of our country. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisles to make strides toward a more accountable and efficient government.

The unfortunate reality for Wisconsin manufacturers who work with certain compounds is that unelected bureaucrats in Washington have impeded on their work and inhibited upon the success of the industry. This situation was made possible through the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS).

Instead of grounding regulatory decisions in sound science, IRIS has demonstrated a poor track record by issuing assessments that conflict with the industry’s best available scientific expertise and methodologies.

In conjunction with Hexion Specialty Chemicals, who has a manufacturing plant in Sheboygan, I introduced the No IRIS Act to cut back needless red tape imposed on chemical manufacturers by the Biden Administration. Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) introduced companion legislation in the U.S. Senate. The bicameral No IRIS Act will protect American jobs, promote innovation, and hold the EPA accountable for acting against the best interest of the industry, our economy, and the environment.

The YMCA in Fond du Lac helps our kids develop skills in leadership, responsibility and community service. This week, I had a wonderful time meeting with the employees, CEO, and Fond du Lac Police Chief Aaron Goldstein at the Y.
