Congressional allies in our ceasefire movement need our help.
My colleague, Congressman Greg Casar (D-TX), co-sponsored our Ceasefire Now Resolution early on, and was among the first few members of Congress to demand a ceasefire. He has signed onto letters to President Biden urging a ceasefire, and he recognizes the importance of safety and sovereignty for Palestinians.
He found that his constituents overwhelmingly support a ceasefire, and he’s listening to them, unlike so many of our colleagues in Congress who are disconnected from the American people.
Like other ceasefire champions, Rep. Casar could be targeted by right-wing, anti-Palestinian groups.

Greg is also a long-time ally in demanding a humane immigration system, fighting back in Texas against cruel anti-immigrant policies.
Remember: most Senate Democrats voted this week to support cruel immigration policies like separating families, ending asylum protections, and mass deportations. That legislation didn’t pass, but it marks a dangerous time for our immigrant neighbors.
We need champions in Congress for immigrant rights. A son of Mexican immigrants and a former labor organizer, Greg also regularly joins striking workers on picket lines.
Last summer, Rep. Casar led a thirst strike on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in solidarity with workers across the country, calling for a federal workplace heat standard. He’s advocating for workers’ wages and well-being over corporate profits.
Unlike many of our colleagues in Congress, Greg and I recognize marginalized people as human beings. We know everyone deserves dignity. In a time of rising hate and dehumanization, our voices in Congress are essential.
