Adam Schiff for Senate

John —

Over the past month, I’ve released my comprehensive plans to defend our democracy and make our economy work for working people, not mega-corporations.

This week, I am releasing my housing and homelessness agenda.

It has been my top priority as a member of Congress to combat the housing affordability crisis in the Golden State — and I will keep up the fight in the Senate.

I released a plan to address CA's twin crises of housing & homelessness
at New Asia Supermarket — which will soon be transformed into
a 15-story affordable housing tower with 175 apartments.

In a Quinnipiac poll of California voters last year, folks in our state ranked housing and homelessness as the most urgent issues facing our state.

But I don’t need a poll to tell me that. I hear stories every day from Californians dealing with this issue.

Fifteen years after the housing bubble burst, thousands of Californians are still struggling to afford a place to live while saving enough to retire. We’ve made some important progress along the way, but there is so much more to be done.

As a U.S. Senator, I have plans to address this crisis, which is uniquely impacting our state.

You can read more about my plans below, and I hope you’ll consider pitching in to my campaign to help me make these plans a reality. We can’t afford to wait any longer to tackle this crisis head-on.

ADDRESSING CALIFORNIA’S HOUSING AFFORDABILITY CRISIS

California does not have enough housing that’s affordable. As a result, millions of Californians cannot afford to live near where they work, and over 180,000 Californians are experiencing homelessness. We need to build more housing that’s affordable – and fast.

Read more about my plans to build more housing, provide relief to renters, and make homeownership more accessible.

HELPING CALIFORNIANS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS

Current estimates indicate that two-thirds of Californians experiencing homelessness are unsheltered and living on the street. Homelessness also disproportionately impacts communities of color due to discriminatory housing policy and systemic bias.

Homelessness is not just a California problem – though we feel it acutely. It is a national problem and making sure everyone has a safe place to live must be a federal priority. We need to make a sustained, significant federal investment in our social safety net and housing support systems to address homelessness.

Read more about my plans to increase federal funding for homelessness, expand services to people experiencing homelessness, and create a comprehensive approach to addressing this crisis.

Thank you for being a vital part of our journey towards a California where everyone has a place to call home.
