Hi John,
For us, the buzz is all about the big game this weekend. But for millions,
a mosquito bite can have deadly consequences.
Every day, more than 1,000 children under five die from malaria. It
doesn’t have to be this way. We have the tools - including indoor residual
spraying and insecticide-treated bed nets - to stop it. And now, we have
vaccines.
A few weeks ago, Cameroon became the first country to roll out one of two
new malaria vaccines to children as part of their routine immunization
programs. About 94% of malaria cases and 95% of malaria deaths globally
occur in the WHO African region, so this has the potential to save
millions of lives. The vaccine will continue to be rolled out throughout
the year.
Before the game kicks off, can
you [ [link removed] ]sign our petition asking President Biden to make sure the new
malaria vaccines are accessible and affordable to the people who need it
most?
