Dear john , I hope you and your family have fun plans to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday! While our Carolina Panthers are in the middle of a major rebuild, we can enjoy the Super Bowl commercials this year and hope for next year. No Amnesty. The Swamp’s open border bill is dead. This week, conservative warriors in the Senate, like Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, and Ron Johnson, joined forces with House conservatives to successfully kill the Swamp’s disastrous amnesty deal. The Biden administration already has every tool necessary to secure the border, but Biden refuses to do what is necessary for our country because open borders are the Radical Left’s goal. The Senate border disaster bill would have made the border crisis even WORSE. You can read my full thread outlining the many, many disastrous provisions contained within the bill here, with some excerpts below: | However, despite the amnesty deal’s failure, the Senate Ukraine First Caucus is working on an amended version of their America Last bill to shovel $95 billion in foreign aid out the door to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and other locations. Conservative Senators are fighting against the legislation, but it seems that this fight will come to the House floor. I will be ready to fight against it tooth and nail. Rest assured that I will vote against this America Last legislation if it ever makes it to the House floor. “[An]…elderly man with a poor memory.” On Thursday, Special Counsel Robert Hur released his report on President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. While Special Counsel Hur found evidence that Biden willfully mishandled classified documents related to Afghanistan and other sensitive policy issues, the Special Counsel declined to bring charges because Biden’s memory and cognitive ability are so poor that he didn’t believe a jury would convict the President. | READ: full special counsel report You read that right – the Special Counsel didn’t bring charges because the President is too old and his memory too poor. TWEET: Wow. | Biden’s weaponized DOJ is applying a dual standard of justice – prosecuting Trump and his aides, but conveniently clearing Biden of wrongdoing. Stay tuned for news on Congressional action on this front. The Week in Weaponized Government The Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government convened a hearing this week on the alarming intersection between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and censorship. I questioned two of our witnesses, Lee Fang and Greg Lukianoff, about the dangers of AI-backed censorship efforts. Mr. Fang recently reported an alarming story on the usage of AI technology in the government’s censorship efforts and has been sounding the alarm on government censorship and surveillance. Mr. Lukianoff is the President of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and testified on the dangers of politicized AI. | We also filed a lawsuit against Elvis Chan, the FBI agent at the center of many of the government’s censorship schemes surrounding the 2020 election, after he refused to comply with our subpoena. READ: Lawsuit against Chan The Committee also released the Amazon Files, showing how the Biden administration pressured Amazon to censor books. READ: The Amazon Files Next week, the Committee will be marking up my bill, the Censorship Accountability Act, that will address and provide accountability for government censorship. I won’t rest until we get accountability and root out the Deep State Censors. Mayorkas Impeachment Update You can watch my full speech on the House floor arguing for the impeachment of Mayorkas here: | Next week, we will again bring this resolution to the floor and impeach Secretary Mayorkas. I will vote to impeach him as many times as it takes to get this done. TWEET: Let's get it done. Combatting the scourge of fentanyl This past week, my team and I had the pleasure of meeting with Kevin Black with the National Narcotics Association Coalition, who recently retired after 30 years of service with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. We discussed how NC is dealing with the scourge of fentanyl and how we can fight the crisis together. | Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent nationwide and in each congressional district.
