Voting to Impeach DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas

I voted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on the House Floor this week. Unfortunately, the vote did not pass the House of Representatives, but we expect the vote to come back up next week when we have full attendance.

The impeachment proceedings of Secretary Mayorkas have exposed the true severity of the border crisis. It is Congress' duty to ensure that the Department of Homeland Security is led by individuals committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting our borders. The failure to secure the border has been so severe, that we must provide accountability.

President Biden has the tools and authority to close the border, but has intentionally implemented open border policies over the last three years. We will continue to hold Secretary Mayorkas and the White House accountable for the border crisis. Watch here or below for my floor remarks in support of impeaching Secretary Mayorkas.

Denouncing President Biden's LNG Export Ban

As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, we held a hearing to examine the detrimental effects of President Biden's Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) export pause. This "pause" puts America's national security at risk, and thousands out of work. The United States is the world leader in exporting LNG, which is a crucial resource for our allies in Europe. Once again, this decision is a ploy by President Biden to appease climate activists.

I introduced the Unlocking Domestic LNG Potential Act, which eliminates the requirement for the U.S. Department of Energy to authorize the export of LNG and instead gives sole authority to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). It is imperative we take politics out of a resource so crucial to maintaining consistent prices globally, aiding our allies, and reducing global emissions. Two-Tiered System of Justice

The Special Counsel investigating President Biden for mishandling classified documents at his Wilmington, Delaware, home released their final report yesterday. In their findings, the Special Counsel not only concluded that President Biden put our national security in jeopardy by willfully taking classified documents, but that his mental state is so poor that he cannot be held accountable for these actions. I am seriously concerned about the President’s ability to lead this country if he is mentally unfit to handle classified documents. This report is another example of the shameful two-tiered system of justice in this country.

Texas Rural Water Association in Washington

I was pleased to meet with the Texas Rural Water Association during their time in Washington this week. We had a productive conversation on how Congress can further protect and ensure rural areas have adequate access to water. Thank you all for taking the time to meet with me and representing our district!

Garden City Town Hall

It was wonderful to host the first town hall of the year in Garden City this week. I was delighted to see many familiar faces from the community and to give an update from Washington. During the Town Hall, I had the honor to present and pin service medals on Army Veteran Earl Sherrill.

A service medal is a prestigious award to individuals who serve in designated wars or conflicts and have fulfilled specific service requirements. Mr. Sherrill was awarded several service medals for his bravery and service to our country in the Vietnam War. Thank you to Corbette Padilla in the Midland Office for assisting Mr. Sherrill in obtaining his service medals. Join me in thanking and honoring Mr. Sherrill for his service to our country!

2024 Congressional Art Competition

My office is now accepting submissions for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. The competition is open to all 7-12 grade students in the 11th Congressional District of Texas and is an opportunity for local artists to be recognized for their talents among artists from around the Nation.

2024 Pfluger Student Leadership Conference

I am excited to announce the second annual Pfluger Student Leadership Conference. The event is open to all high school students in the 11th District of Texas and will be held on Saturday, February 24th, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Bush Convention Center in Midland, Texas.

The conference will offer students the opportunity to participate in character-building activities and hear powerful messages from dynamic guest speakers while gaining critical knowledge on the fundamentals of leadership.
