Dear Democracy Defender:

Happy Birthday to us! Tomorrow The Union turns 2 years old! We celebrate our dedicated volunteers and partners across the U.S and our shared commitment to democracy. Like most young organizations, we have learned a lot and accomplished more than we ever thought possible in those two short years - recruiting phenomenal volunteers and partners; building a (mostly) smoothly functioning volunteer organizational structure, including our unique Action Center, which enables you to find ways to defend democracy any day of the week. Most importantly, we have helped to power notable electoral victories in the 2022 mid-terms, as well as many off-year and special elections.

To mark this occasion, we are asking you, our volunteers, to take this pledge and share it with others.

Once you have taken the Pledge, please share it with your friends, family and organized or casual groups via email, text or however you communicate. Then find the Pledge on our social media pages (FB, X, Threads and IG) and share, like and comment – it all helps spread the word–and encourages others to check us out @jointheunionus ([link removed]) .

Now turn the Pledge into action by getting out the vote in two special elections with extraordinary consequences for democracy in two legislative bodies. We suggest these options from our Action Center or you can find these and other options @ Action.jointheunion.us. No experience required unless indicated.
1. Next Tuesday, the U.S. House could add one more pro-democracy vote to shrink the slim MAGA majority. We have seen this week just how crucial one vote can be. Like Rep. Al Green, in a hospital wheelchair and scrubs allowed the Congress to stop (or delay) an unconstitutional impeachment. Next up - our national security. NY-03 can replace George Santos with a proven pro-democracy candidate Tom Suozzi, but many voters in NY-03 are unaware of the election and its consequences. YOU can change that by phoning them and letting them know.

2. Also next Tuesday, the deadlock in the PA House will be broken - by either a MAGA or a pro-democracy legislator. As one of the top existential states, the PA Legislature has control over election laws, redistricting issues, and more. Jim Prokopiak needs our support to retain the rule of law in Pennsylvania and his voters need a gentle phone reminder of the election and its consequences:

So, take the Pledge, share it widely and take action in NY-03 and PA HD-140. We are grateful that we are taking this historic journey to defend democracy with you and we thank you for celebrating our 2nd anniversary in the best possible way!

IT TAKES ALL OF US,

The Union
