Dear Friends and Neighbors, Rep. Hudson, Rep. Novotny, and I are participating in a town hall tomorrow morning, Saturday, beginning 9:30 AM at Saint Michael Cinema. I hope you can join us as we very much value your voice and perspective! | “It was an honor visiting both the Elk River and Albertville City Councils Monday evening sharing a legislative preview in advance of session beginning February 12,” Sen. Lucero said. | Senators Anderson, Howe, Limmer, and Lucero joining a large crowd at the I-94 West Corridor Coalition Breakfast Friday morning to discuss the continued commitment and prioritization of roads & bridges transportation from Maple Grove to Saint Cloud! | “I appreciated the opportunity to visit the Rockford Township Board meeting and the Hanover City Council meeting Tuesday evening to share my legislative preview in advance of the MN Senate coming back into session February 12,” Sen. Lucero said. Illegal Foreign Nationals Just days before the beginning of the next legislative session, Democrats announced another radical policy change they plan to pursue regarding illegal immigrants. During the 2023 legislative session, Democrats used their one-party control of state government to make Minnesota a magnet attracting illegal foreign nationals by allowing driver's licenses to be issued (indistinguishable from driver’s licenses of legal citizens) which have high potential to be used for voting and other fraud. I receive feedback each week of the hardship Minnesotans are experiencing trying to afford groceries, childcare, housing, and other bills for their own families. It's absolutely unconscionable Democrats continue to prioritize illegal foreign nationals above struggling Minnesotans! Democrats pursue weak election laws, providing college, healthcare and more to illegal immigrants PAID FOR by the taxpaying citizens of Minnesota. Even with a ~$18 billion surplus, Walz and Democrats were only willing to return $260 rebate checks, pathetic. In 2024, Democrats plan to double down on these policies supporting criminal behavior and further encourage the invasion occurring at our nation's southern border by fully making Minnesota a sanctuary state for illegal aliens. In what is being dubbed the North Star Act, Democrats plan to ban Minnesota law enforcement and state agencies from assisting federal immigration authorities from deporting illegal immigrants from Minnesota. | The bill has been co-authored by nearly three dozen Democrat legislators and has the support of Gov. Walz. Democrats are advancing the legislation in Minnesota while the invasion at the southern border reaches critical levels. Even Democrats like MN Congresswoman Angie Craig are calling out Pres. Biden for his failure to secure the border demonstrating the radical-left faction of Minnesota's legislature is in control, and has no intention of slowing down even after all the radical bills we saw passed in 2023. The combination of an open Southern border at record levels of illegal crossings combined with a Democrat party seeking to not only allow illegal immigration to continue, but actively rewards it will undoubtably be disastrous for Minnesota and other sanctuary states. | New Democrat Majority Leader Many have been wondering if the Democrat majority will become more moderate heading into an election year in which their one-party control of the state will be at stake when every seat of the House is up for election this November. We got a clear answer earlier this week when a new Democrat leader was elected following the previous majority leader, Sen. Kari Dziedzic, stepping down due to health concerns. The new leader, Sen. Erin Murphy, is among the most far-left members of the Democrat caucus, meaning it is no longer a question if Democrat leaders in the Legislature will cave to the left-wing of their caucus. The radical-left has taken full control of the Democrat Senate caucus. Sen. Murphy has been a leading advocate for abortion up to the millisecond of birth, abolishing ICE, making Minnesota a sanctuary state, voted in favor of every tax increase Democrats proposed last year, and attacked her own Democrat colleague for condemning Hamas terrorists for the murder of Israeli citizens. Sen. Murphy also ran for Governor in 2018. Being the main competitor to Governor Walz, Sen. Murphy ran as the most far-left candidate in the race, securing her the endorsement of the Democrat party. Ultimately, she was rejected by voters in the 2018 primary when they chose the candidate who was seemingly more moderate at the time, Gov. Walz. | While there is much to be concerned of heading into the 2024 legislative session, I will continue advocating for positive changes for our community and state. There is a pile of bills on my desk at the Capitol that I look forward to introducing next week and discussing with legislators and constituents. Look out for my next email update for details!
