I write to you today with big news! Plans for our 50th Anniversary Gala are officially underway! 

We are exceptionally excited to celebrate this year’s Human Rights Awards Ceremony and Benefit Gala. As you know, a cornerstone of our Gala is always the honorees – champions for human rights, often in the face of immense risk and danger. I’m thrilled to share who WOLA will honor this year:  

“These honorees – leaders who have stood strong in their fight for dignity and justice in Latin America – represent values that guided us over the years and inspire us for the future.”

Senator Patrick Leahy

Senator Patrick Leahy will be honored for his life-long commitment to human rights and democracy in the Americas, and his Congressional leadership in advancing these principles in U.S. foreign policy. 

Venezuela Program Education-Action on Human Rights (PROVEA) 

PROVEA will be honored for their courage in investigating human rights violations, their support for victims, and their promotion of respect for the rule of law and democracy in Venezuela. 

The Collectives of Family Members of the Disappeared in Guanajuato, Mexico

The collectives of family members of the disappeared in Guanajuato, Mexico will be honored for their essential role in the search for truth, justice, reparations, and non-repetition in the face of a disappearance crisis numbering over 114,000 victims nationally.

Our honorees on this most significant 50th anniversary of WOLA’s work are so deserving of this recognition and the biggest standing ovation we can give them. I hope you will join me in doing so by sponsoring this year’s gala, purchasing a ticket, or purchasing an ad space in our program.
