John,
The outpouring of support for the Coronavirus Care Fund has been remarkable...but it's not enough.
We're still short of our goal to raise $4 million for in-home care workers, nannies, and house cleaners who need help right now -- and for millions of domestic workers, time is running out.
That's why we're thrilled to share a special opportunity from The David C. Butterfield and Alfonso D. Rubio Memorial Foundation. For a limited time, they're matching all gifts to the Coronavirus Care Fund FIVE times.
There will never be an opportunity to make a greater impact for domestic workers who are struggling through the coronavirus crisis, like Ingrid. Please take a moment to read her story below, and then make a 5x matched donation and join over 60,000 people who have chipped in to help people like her stay healthy and safe during this crisis.
Thanks,
Ai-jen
John,
Staying home during this pandemic is a necessity that women like Ingrid can't afford.
Ingrid cleans houses six days a week and has a son at home. Many of her clients have cancelled -- some waiting until she showed up at their door to let her know. She gets a sinking feeling every time she hears from a client.
With her income disappearing, Ingrid isn't just worried about her and her family's health, she's worried about putting food on the table, paying for gas, and making rent. Relief can't come fast enough.
Donate to the Coronavirus Care Fund right now to help domestic workers like Ingrid stay home, stay healthy, and slow the spread of this deadly virus.
Without access to health care, paid time off, or job security of any kind -- Ingrid and millions of domestic workers across the country don't have a safety net.
In all my conversations with domestic workers this week I'm hearing the same thing: They're terrified about how they'll make a living during this crisis, anxious about paying the bills to keep their families afloat, and worried for the safety of their families and their clients alike.
Domestic workers are on the front lines of this crisis with almost no protection, both from the virus and from the loss in job opportunities.
Every dollar you contribute to NDWA's Coronavirus Care Fund will go straight to providing relief for nannies, house cleaners, and care workers who need help right now.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.
Thank you so much for helping domestic workers make it through this crisis.
Sincerely,
Ai-jen Poo, Executive Director
