Through our SNAP Hotline we work to increase access to SNAP benefits by hel=
ping households navigate the SNAP application process, submitting applicati=
ons on their behalf, and advocating with County Assistance Offices to ensur=
e all households receive the benefits they are eligible for. Here's one of =
many examples of the work that we do:
In January, we received a call from someone who needed help with their SNAP=
renewal. They were recently diagnosed with cancer and were in the middle o=
f receiving treatment at the time that they called. Our Hotline Counselor s=
cheduled a callback for them at a more convenient time to ensure that they =
received the help they needed. They thanked our counselor for facilitating =
the renewal process and accommodating their needs during treatment.=20
Our hotline counselors empathize with clients and make an effort to go abov=
e and beyond for the people we work with. We are happy to help in any way t=
hat we can!

POLICY & ADVOCACY
Pennsylvania State Budget: This week, Governor Shapiro presented his second=
budget address, outlining his proposed state budget for fiscal year 2024-2=
025. While this is just the first step in a multi-step process, Gov. Shapir=
o included some provisions that would support families experiencing food in=
security and help put food in reach for more Pennsylvanians.
We are grateful to Gov. Shapiro for including these proposals and working t=
o support Pennsylvanians experiencing food insecurity. The time is now for =
the General Assembly to include these provisions in the final budget!

Child Tax Credit Update: We are happy to report that the House of Represent=
atives overwhelmingly passed the Tax Relief for American Families and Worke=
rs Act. It is now up to the Senate to pass this bill.=20
As a reminder, this newly proposed tax package would expand the Child Tax C=
redit, lifting as many as 400,000 children above the poverty line in its fi=
rst year.

Through our SNAP Hotline we work to increase access to SNAP benefits by helping households navigate the SNAP application process, submitting applications on their behalf, and advocating with County Assistance Offices to ensure all households receive the benefits they are eligible for. Here's one of many examples of the work that we do:
In January, we received a call from someone who needed help with their SNAP renewal. They were recently diagnosed with cancer and were in the middle of receiving treatment at the time that they called. Our Hotline Counselor scheduled a callback for them at a more convenient time to ensure that they received the help they needed. They thanked our counselor for facilitating the renewal process and accommodating their needs during treatment.
Our hotline counselors empathize with clients and make an effort to go above and beyond for the people we work with. We are happy to help in any way that we can!
POLICY & ADVOCACY
Pennsylvania State Budget: This week, Governor Shapiro presented his second budget address, outlining his proposed state budget for fiscal year 2024-2025. While this is just the first step in a multi-step process, Gov. Shapiro included some provisions that would support families experiencing food insecurity and help put food in reach for more Pennsylvanians.
We are grateful to Gov. Shapiro for including these proposals and working to support Pennsylvanians experiencing food insecurity. The time is now for the General Assembly to include these provisions in the final budget!

Through our SNAP Hotline we work to increase access to SNAP benefits by hel=
ping households navigate the SNAP application process, submitting applicati=
ons on their behalf, and advocating with County Assistance Offices to ensur=
e all households receive the benefits they are eligible for. Here's one of =
many examples of the work that we do:
In January, we received a call from someone who needed help with their SNAP=
renewal. They were recently diagnosed with cancer and were in the middle o=
f receiving treatment at the time that they called. Our Hotline Counselor s=
cheduled a callback for them at a more convenient time to ensure that they =
received the help they needed. They thanked our counselor for facilitating =
the renewal process and accommodating their needs during treatment.=20
Our hotline counselors empathize with clients and make an effort to go abov=
e and beyond for the people we work with. We are happy to help in any way t=
hat we can!

POLICY & ADVOCACY
Pennsylvania State Budget: This week, Governor Shapiro presented his second=
budget address, outlining his proposed state budget for fiscal year 2024-2=
025. While this is just the first step in a multi-step process, Gov. Shapir=
o included some provisions that would support families experiencing food in=
security and help put food in reach for more Pennsylvanians.
We are grateful to Gov. Shapiro for including these proposals and working t=
o support Pennsylvanians experiencing food insecurity. The time is now for =
the General Assembly to include these provisions in the final budget!

Through our SNAP Hotline we work to increase access to SNAP benefits by helping households navigate the SNAP application process, submitting applications on their behalf, and advocating with County Assistance Offices to ensure all households receive the benefits they are eligible for. Here's one of many examples of the work that we do:
In January, we received a call from someone who needed help with their SNAP renewal. They were recently diagnosed with cancer and were in the middle of receiving treatment at the time that they called. Our Hotline Counselor scheduled a callback for them at a more convenient time to ensure that they received the help they needed. They thanked our counselor for facilitating the renewal process and accommodating their needs during treatment.
Our hotline counselors empathize with clients and make an effort to go above and beyond for the people we work with. We are happy to help in any way that we can!
POLICY & ADVOCACY
Pennsylvania State Budget: This week, Governor Shapiro presented his second budget address, outlining his proposed state budget for fiscal year 2024-2025. While this is just the first step in a multi-step process, Gov. Shapiro included some provisions that would support families experiencing food insecurity and help put food in reach for more Pennsylvanians.
We are grateful to Gov. Shapiro for including these proposals and working to support Pennsylvanians experiencing food insecurity. The time is now for the General Assembly to include these provisions in the final budget!

Child Tax Credit Update: We are happy to report that the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. It is now up to the Senate to pass this bill.
As a reminder, this newly proposed tax package would expand the Child Tax Credit, lifting as many as 400,000 children above the poverty line in its first year.
