SACRAMENTO—Rob Lapsley, president of the California Business Roundtable, issued the following statement today in response to the governor calling for a “workload” budget that recognizes the uncertainty of current and future revenue:
“Today, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the FY 20-21 budget will essentially ‘shelter in place.’ We strongly support the governor’s proactive approach to managing both the current budget and the FY 20-21 budget while we wait to see the true economic fallout of this crisis. Fiscal restraint now will help alleviate increased revenue demands in the future and will be a critically important decision in the recovery of our economy.”
