Dear John,

Anti-choice forces want to separate abortion from healthcare.

In Wisconsin, abortion after 20 weeks is already banned. But this ban hasn’t stopped anti-choice legislators from introducing an additional abortion ban at 14 weeks [[link removed]] , with exemptions for the life of the mother. This legislation wouldn’t just ban abortions – it would require patients to undergo a forced vaginal birth or an emergency c-section if their life was endangered by pregnancy complications. Anti-choice extremists would force childbearing people to undergo difficult, dangerous births and surgery rather than allow them to choose a safe abortion for life-threatening complications. Anti-choice legislators passed the ban in the Wisconsin assembly [[link removed]] .

Abortions are safe. Anti-choice forces want you to believe abortions are never safe, and never medically necessary. They’re lying.

This is part of a larger strategy to ban abortion and reproductive healthcare. Just like Kate Cox [[link removed]] in Texas, no one will be granted an exemption under a ban. For patients who do not have the means to travel out of state, abortion bans are deadly. In 2022, Yennifer “Yeni” Alvarez-Estrada Glick passed away because of pregnancy related complications. An investigation found she was denied information about a potentially life-saving abortion [[link removed]] due to Texas’ anti-abortion laws. Yeni’s death is a horrifying injustice, one which could have been prevented through an abortion.

John, anti-choice forces misrepresent the reality of abortion bans when they say patients will be granted exemptions. Anti-choice forces want you to think they’re the voice of reason. They’re lying.

Unlike anti-choice extremists, Women Winning endorsed candidates are truth tellers. They're OB/GYNS and doctors who know abortion is necessary.

Support more truth tellers. [[link removed]]

Women Winning is proud to endorse Dr. Kelly Morrison for Minnesota’s Third Congressional District. Dr. Morrison is a practicing OB/GYN who fought hard and won for abortion rights during her time in the MN Senate. She’ll do the same in Congress. Women Winning is proud to back Dr. Alice Mann, who pushed for legislation to improve the lives of working families through paid family medical leave.

Women Winning fights back against reproductive healthcare misinformation. Our Candidate Toolkit, which gives our candidates tools, guides, templates and resources on running for office, includes guidance about how to speak accurately and powerfully about the need for abortion. Our political team meets one-to-one with candidates to craft winning messaging about abortion and reproductive healthcare, tailored to the candidate’s district. Women Winning is there for our pro-choice champions, from their campaign announcement to election night and beyond.
