Facing Our Own Stupidity

Many, many years ago I attended Young Life’s Malibu – a camp that is on a rocky outcropping narrowing the entrance to a beautiful inlet on rugged British Columbia coast.  The dining hall is all glass and overlooks the narrow rapids created by the outcropping and the only way into the inlet.  There is a small marina at the far end of the inlet where luxury yachts set anchor and hang out for a while.  A rumor persisted all week when I was there that John Denver (that should tell you how long ago this was) was going to bring his yacht through the narrow that week.  We were at the last meal of the week when a stupendous sailing yacht happened in.  A friend of mine and I both had the same idea at the same time and as someone exited their cabin on that yacht, we stood up,...
