Discover and learn about the wonders of science! Nottingham Festival of Science & Curiosity returns for another brilliant week of science fun, with free family activities across Nottinghamshire this half-term.
This yearâs festival is guaranteed to inspire and delight curious families of all ages with exciting live shows, science fun days, interactive workshops, and events including; planetarium shows, bath bomb making, colourful chemistry, nature walks and much more.

Last weekend Nottingham was illuminated for Light Night, with thousands of people attending the event over two nights.
More than 30 installations, events and activities took place across the city centre, opening up the cityâs fantastic spaces with light and colour, and giving people of all ages the opportunity to explore after dark.

Half-term at Lakeside Arts

Get creative with your little ones this February half-term. Take part in craft workshops including clay animation, screen printing, making pigment from plants, painting activities and table-top cityscapes.Â
There's also a family show - Dogs Don't Do Ballet - a hilarious story of a small dog with a big personality and even bigger dreams, brought to life using beautiful puppets, well-loved ballet music and dazzling comedy.
Circus of Horrors: Cabaret of Curiosities
Sat 10 February Royal Concert Hall
This fang-tastic performance is set to blow your mind with an amazing set, stellar lights, special effects, beautifully bizarre circus acts, a sinister story and the darkest of magic, all performed to an original rock score.
If Quentin Tarantino had directed Cirque Du Soleil you would be halfway there. Whether a rock fan or theatregoer, Circus of Horrors has something for everyone.
This show is suitable for ages 16 and over only.
Sound at Central - Cheap Thrills
Sat 24 February Nottingham Central Library
Cheap Thrills works with local venues to showcase Nottinghamâs most exciting talent, providing clients with a platform to perform and connect with other artists.
For this Sound at Central takeover, they've programmed funk rock band Sancho Panza, and Wizards Canât Be Lawyers who were formed on the Nottingham jam scene in 2023. Poets Pan Ini, Caetano Capurro, and Jamie Thrasivoulou will also be performing.
The café and licensed bar will be open and serving food and drink for the evening.
Just announced: Light After Dark Film Festival
Sat 9 - Sat 16 March Nottingham Contemporary
Light After Dark Film Festival is dedicated to immersive experiences in cinema, pairing films with performance, music, technology, and art. It gives audiences a deep, intimate, and collective encounter with film.
The festival includes a family expedition into the magic of early cinema, imagined scenes from an unmade film with a script by Alfred Hitchcock and Ernest Lehman, and an immersive journey into your cinematic unconscious.
Join the Nottingham Men Allowed Pop-Up Choir
Tue 27 February The Canalhouse
Would you like to sing, have fun, make friends, and raise funds to support Prostate Cancer UK?
Pop-up choir Nottingham Men Allowed is looking for volunteer singers for this exciting new project. Led by experienced and charismatic musical director Ian Watts, you will get to take part in six training sessions and perform at a concert in April. Two other choirs will also perform: Our Dementia Choir (as seen on the BBC) and Nottinghamâs largest male voice choir, Carlton Male Voice Choir.
The first introductory session takes place at the Canalhouse pub on Tuesday 27 February (free beer will be provided).
Trevor Nelson: Soul Nation

An award-winning DJ and champion for R&B music worldwide, Trevor Nelson is a household name across the UK. As a radio broadcaster he currently spans two of the BBCâs most popular music networks - Trevor Nelson's Rhythm Nation on Radio 2 and Trevor Goes Old Skool on Radio 1Xtra.
Trevor has won numerous honours including 4 MOBOS and an MBE for his work with the millennium volunteers. He has released 12 incredibly successful compilation albums over the last 20 years, the most recent being Soul Selection and Slow Jams.
Nottingham Shakespeare Company - Romeo & Juliet

The Nottingham Shakespeare Company unveil their latest masterpiece, a riveting production of Shakespeare's timeless tragedy, Romeo & Juliet.
This dynamic 90-minute rendition promises to be unforgettable. Blending the classic tale of star-crossed lovers with NSC's trademark edge-of-your-seat action, this production explores gender roles in a fractured society, dancing between passion and obsession, love and sexuality, life and death.
Romeo & Juliet takes to the stage with a contemporary flair under the direction of founding NSC member Cat Prescott, making her Shakespearean directorial debut.
Half-term ice skating

There's a jam-packed timetable at the National Ice Centre this February half-term!
Take part in disco sessions, themed parent and tots skates, or the holiday club for children aged 7-13. You can also learn how to skate and develop skills with intensive skating lessons and the junior ice hockey clinic.
Plus, enjoy additional public skating sessions each day where children aged 5 and under skate for free. Â
