John,
Our nurses are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 public health crisis.
But right now our nurses aren’t being given the proper personal protective equipment, staffing, education, or communication from their employers to safely treat COVID-19 patients.
We cannot allow nurses and other health care professionals to be put at extreme risk because of a lack of personal protective equipment. So we’re joining National Nurses United — the country’s largest registered nurses' union — to call on Congress to do everything it can to protect our nurses.
We need a massive grassroots movement in order to pressure Congress to do the right thing. Will you sign on and join us in demanding that Congress does everything it possibly can to protect nurses in this critical moment?
The CDC told hospitals that it is acceptable for nurses to wear surgical masks, scarves, and bandanas while treating potential and confirmed COVID-19 patients even though those items do absolutely nothing to stop health care workers from contracting the virus.
That is unacceptable. In a moment when we are asking our nurses to step up and protect people, we must make sure that our nurses are protected as well.
Thank you for making your voice heard,
Justice Democrats
