Dear John,
The right wing has dominated social media over the last two presidential elections, spreading lies like wildfire and significantly outpacing progressives on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter… you name it.
We can’t let that happen again in 2024, and the team here at Inequality Media Civic Action made it our top priority over the past several months to catch up.
That work is now paying off in a big way.
In fact, we just completed a comprehensive analysis comparing our social media numbers with the big right-wing voices and found that we now have the highest Instagram engagement rates of anyone we looked at, including Fox News, Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Ben Shapiro!
We’re also making impressive progress on YouTube, and on TikTok, we’ve gone from 0 to 670,000 followers seemingly overnight. Even more impressive is that we’ve done it all on a shoestring budget.
But with so much at stake in this election — and the growing threat of deep fakes and disinformation spreading online — we need to double down to make sure we can go toe-to-toe with the right wing on social media and win.
Will you make a donation to help Inequality Media Civic Action spread the truth on social media and defeat Donald Trump?
In 2016, Facebook was described as Donald Trump’s “secret weapon.” His digital director said “Facebook was the single most important platform to help grow our fundraising base,” and political science research done after the election showed that Trump’s advantage on Facebook may well have determined the outcome.
In 2020, the right-wing domination of social media continued. Data collected from Facebook’s CrowdTangle tool showed that right-wing accounts like Ben Shapiro, Fox News, and Dan Bongino regularly topped lists of the top performing posts each day (though I’m proud to say that we were one of the progressive pages that regularly cracked into the top ten as well).
We must not allow Republicans to continue that advantage in 2024.
That’s why our team is testing new methods, videos, and posts every day to figure out the most effective content to grow our audience and engage followers. And we’re not just preaching to the choir. In fact, data analysis shows that we have a disproportionate number of followers who identify as conservative and independent.
I truly believe that Inequality Media Civic Action is truly one of the most effective and strategic organizations that you can donate to this election cycle to help stop Trump. Will you chip in today?
Yes, I’ll make a donation to help Inequality Media Civic Action spread the truth on social media and defeat Donald Trump.
Thank you for helping us defend our democracy,
