When the voters of North Carolina’s 4th Congressional district sent Valerie to Washington, they wanted a fighter who would take on the GOP and their voter suppression laws that have wreaked havoc in North Carolina and across the country. Now, with almost a full term under her belt, it’s clear she’s delivering on that promise.

Together with her Democratic colleagues in Congress, she introduced the Democracy Restoration Act, which would end the permanent denial of voting rights nationwide to individuals with criminal convictions who have served their sentences. And back in North Carolina, she’s working to fight back against GOP voter suppression.

Valerie recognizes that our democracy is only as strong as access to the ballot box allows it to be. In Washington and at home, Valerie is at the frontline of our fight to protect democracy.
